Luo Bin, born in 1981, is now a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Astronomy and Space Science, Nanjing University. He has been selected into the Thousand Young Talents Program of China.
Luo received his bachelor’s in mathematics and physics in 2002 from Tsinghua University, master’s in astrophysics in 2005 from the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and doctorate in astronomy in 2010 from the Pennsylvania State University. Then he did his post-doc studies at Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and the Department of Astronomy at Penn State. He joined the faculty of Nanjing University in 2015.
His research focuses on X-ray astronomy, AGN, and high energy astrophysics. He has published over 60 papers on first-class astronomy journals like The Astrophysical Journal with more than 1,600 citations. Of these papers, the 11 that he published as the first author have more than 300 citations. He has been a reviewer for international core journals of astronomy, including The Astrophysical Journal and Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. He has been an invited speaker and plenary speaker on major international conferences.
