At present, there are about 30 teaching and scientific research personnel in the school of astronomy and space science of Nanjing University, including 4 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (academicians Qu Qinyue, Su Dingqiang, Fang Cheng, sun Yisui, Qu Qinyue and Fang Cheng are also academicians of the Third World Academy of Sciences), 16 doctoral supervisors, 16 professors, 5 associate professors, 7 lecturers, and young scholars who have obtained doctorates 23. The discipline has a group of high-level academic leaders with influence at home and abroad. Academician Qu Qinyue, academician Fang Cheng and academician Su Dingqiang once served as the president of the Chinese Astronomical Society. Academician Fang Cheng served as vice chairman of the International Astronomical Federation and academician sun Yisui as member of the Standing Committee of the Department of mathematics and physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Outstanding young talents also stand out in all major research directions. Professor Dai Zigao, Ding Mingde, Li Xiangdong and Chen Pengfei were employed as special professors of Yangtze River scholars. Professor Dai Zigao, Li Xiangdong, Ding Mingde, Huang Yongfeng, Chen Yang, Zhou Jilin and Chen Pengfei were supported by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. Professor Ding Mingde was awarded the outstanding young teacher award by the Ministry of education. Professor Chen Yang, Zhou Jilin, Chen Pengfei, Gu Qiusheng, Wang Xiangyu, Hou Xiyun and Wang Fayin Selected into the new (cross) century excellent talent support plan of the Ministry of education.
